- JUDGING
A three-judge system will be used, using a point system of 1 to 100, 100
being highest score. The
class will be conducted in two rounds.
Each round will be scored separately. No scores will carry over from round one to round two.
In the first round, each yearling will show individually.
A random drawing will be held to determine the numerical order of
appearance of each yearling. Any
owner or trainer who is showing more than one entry and draws consecutive
spots will be given a new draw. There
will be a call judge. After
trotting through the in-gate, each yearling has up to 90 seconds in which
to be judged. He shall be
shown standing and then at a trot. The
handler then has the remainder of the 90 seconds to exhibit and show the
yearling to its best advantage. At
the end of the time allotment, the yearling must immediately leave the
ring. The next yearling shall
then enter and show in the same manner.
Each entry should be waiting at the in-gate for its turn. After the final yearling is judged, show officials will tabulate
the scores. The ten yearlings
scoring the highest will be asked to return to the in-gate for the second
round. These entries shall
enter the ring together and the class shall be run as a new in-hand class. The judges may ask to compare the yearlings at this time. After all the entries have been judged, scores will be
tabulated using the MOS judging system and 1st thru 10th place will be awarded in
reverse order. All handlers
are required to dress in formal attire.
